If you have a grar.com email
address (even if you don't use it) please follow these
instructions.
There are several different
versions of Outlook and Outlook Express.
Because of that, these instructions may not be exact for your
version. I will provide exact instructions
for the most widely used versions of both Outlook and Outlook Express, but some
settings may be located in places other than I will describe. In addition, you
may be using an email program other than Outlook or Outlook Express - in that
case you're pretty much on your own...
DO NOT CHANGE
INCOMING MAIL SERVER SETTINGS!!!
Please note that your
incoming mail server might not be a grar.com address - that's OK. DO NOT CHANGE THE
INCOMING MAIL SERVER SETTINGS.
OUTLOOK:
1. Click Tools, Email
Accounts
2. Verify that "View or
change..." is selected and click Next
3. For EACH OF the email
accounts, click the email account then click Change...
4. Change the OUTGOING email
server to smtp.grar.com. DO NOT CHANGE THE INCOMING
EMAIL SERVER. Double check that
you type smtp
correctly. It’s like Sam Mary Tom Paul
5. Click More Settings...
6. Click the Outgoing Server
tab
7. Change or verify that
"My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked.
8. Change the next setting
down to "Log on using" and type in your grar.com email address and
password.
9. Check Remember password
10. DO
NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS ON THIS PAGE – DO NOT CALL ME AND ASK IF YOU NEED
TO CHANGE ANY OTHER SETTINGS ON THIS PAGE – THERE ARE NO OTHER SETTINGS ON THIS
PAGE THAT NEED TO BE CHANGED.
11. Click the
"Advanced" tab
12. Notice which of the two
topmost settings are for the OUTGOING server.
DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE INCOMING SERVER
SETTINGS
13. Change or verify that
the setting for "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)"
is NOT checked and the port number is 25.
14. Click OK
15. Click Next
16. Repeat from step 3 for
each email account
17. Click Finish
18. Send a test email.
OUTLOOK EXPRESS:
1. Click Tools, Accounts
2. Click the Mail tab
3. For EACH OF the email
accounts, click the email account then click Properties
4. Click the Servers tab
5. Change the OUTGOING email
server to smtp.grar.com. DO NOT CHANGE THE INCOMING EMAIL SERVER. Double check that you type smtp correctly. It’s like Sam Mary Tom Paul
6. Verify or place a
checkmark in "My server requires Authentication" then click
Settings...
7. Change the setting to
"Log on using" and type in your grar.com email address and
password.
8. Check Remember password
9. DO

10. Click OK
11. Click the
"Advanced" tab
